Queering Automatons
Two years ago, I joined my mother in becoming a bionic when I had my left knee replaced. Margaret, my mother, had both hips replaced at a time when the prostheses were old technology and made of metal. My own prosthesis is modern and made of plastic. I used this technology progression as model to respond to the Body | Machine call using AI image generation. The prompts for these generations moved from mechanized men, metallic, human-hybrid, metallica frictions to plastic coated, plasticized, transparent with mechanical inner parts…
Around the time of my knee replacement, I started creating images with Artificial Intelligence and scientists began working on life-sized techno fabricated fuck dolls with moving parts and warmth.
In these images, I revel in the sensuality and sexy-ality between the organic and the artificial. The visuals are fiction. Eye candy. Sexual titillation. A visual sophisticated hybrid between Buck Rogers and Harlequin Romance.
